What Surfaces Can I Use Mirror Shine™ On?

Mirror Shine™ is safe and effective for direct application to paint coats, gel coats, glass, fiberglass, ceramic, steel, aluminum, marble, granite, chrome, vinyl and rubber.

Mirror Shine™ is not designed to be applied directly to plastic or leather. On plastic, you may get some white streaking similar to car wax.

Can I Apply Mirror Shine™ Over a Current Wax, Seal or Ceramic Coating?

Yes, Mirror Shine can be applied over a wax coat or ceramic coat. It will sit as another layer on top of these coats.

However, we advise not applying a coat of wax if there isn't one on the vehicle. Mirror Shine™ was formulated to be the only coating on a surface, so ideally you can apply it to a clean and dry surface and simply reapply as needed.

• Before your first application, it will work best if you wash and dry your car (using a simple car wash product).

1). Be sure to shake bottle thoroughly before using.

2). Apply to a cool, clean surface.

3). Ideally, you should wash your car thoroughly and be sure it's dry. This ensures there are minimal contaminants on your car before you apply your coat from Torque Detail. There is no need to apply any wax or coating prior to applying Mirror Shine™.

4). Spray a small amount of Mirror Shine™ onto your surface. Use a clean microfiber towel to work into the surface.

5). Use a 2nd microfiber towel to buff into surface until desired polish is reached.

6). Apply to one section at a time. Apply a 2nd coating for added shine and protection!

7). Continue to reapply as needed, so your surface stays coated and doesn't need to be washed and waxed again!

After Care Instructions (How Do I Ensure It Lasts as Long As Possible?):

Mirror Shine™ should NOT wash off quickly after application. It should not wash off after a rainstorm or a car wash.

After care starts before the product is applied.

• Decontaminating the car's surface prior to applying will help with the durability and length of Mirror Shine's seal. 

• Dirt and grime on the car's surface might not be visible, even after washing. If there is a layer of surface contaminants, Mirror Shine™ will be unable to bond to the car's "clear coat". 

• If you find Mirror Shine is washing off too quickly, use a polish or decontaminant "decon" wash to remove the surface decontaminants before applying Mirror Shine. This will ensure the product bonds to the car's clear coat and will increase sealant strength up to 80%.

How Long Do Your Products Take To Ship?

It depends on what you order, but typically 3-5 days. During high-volume times of year it may take a bit longer, but rest assured we will ship out each and every order as quickly as we possibly can.

What Is A Ceramic Coating

In short, our Ceramic Spray creates a glass-like seal that chemically bonds to your vehicle’s surface. This lasts much longer than a traditional sealant and repels water effortlessly.

The main ingredient is Silicon Dioxide, also known as Silica or Sio2. This is the same product that’s in a ceramic coating. Silicon Dioxide is the Quartz you see in tiny grains of sand at the beach.

Ceramic Spray contains tiny “nanoparticles” of Silicon Dioxide. When these Silica particles are applied to your car’s surface, they slowly harden to create a glass seal over your car’s surface.

This is very similar to a ceramic coating.

How To Use Ceramic Spray

1. Properly wash and dry the vehicle before applying.  (For best results: We recommend using a decontaminate soap to strip previous coatings and clay barring the vehicle to remove contaminants.)

2. Apply to a cool surface.  Avoid direct sunlight.

3. Spray a small amount onto the surface.

4. Gently and evenly apply with a microfiber sponge or towel.

5. Quickly buff into a high gloss shine with a secondary, clean microfiber towel.

6. Repeat the process with 1-3 sprays per panel until entire vehicle is ceramic coated.

7. Coating is ultra hydrophobic and starts to cure within minutes.  For best results let cure for 3 hours before wetting it.

8. Give the coating 24 to 48 hours before rubbing it and up to a week before washing it.

What Is Decon Soap?

Decontaminate or "Decon" Soap. This is stronger than regular car soap, as it will help strip your car of waxes and surface contaminants. Most brands sell a decontamination soap.

Why Do I Need It?

Your car’s surface is filled with contaminants. Some are visible and some are invisible to the naked eye. These include water spots, brake dust, bug guts, tiny iron deposits, and road salt.

Removing all the contaminants from your surface is vital for exposing your vehicle’s clear coat and will help your wax or sealant last much longer.

Using a Decon Soap will help strip your car of waxes and surface contaminants. This will allow Mirror Shine or Ceramic Spray to adhere directly to the clear coat and give you the best results.

How To Use Decon Soap

You can use 1 to 2 oz per gallon of water.  A little goes a long way.

1. Fill two clean buckets with water.
2. Add Decon Soap to one bucket.  We recommend 4-6 oz for a standard 5-gallon bucket.
3. Hose down car with water.
4. Apply Decon Soap to wet surface.
5. Work into the surface using back-and-forth motion with microfiber wash-mitt. (You can also use a sponge or towel.)
6. Rinse off your dirty wash-mitt in the bucket with just water in between.
7. Hose down car to remove soap.
8. Wash a second time if needed.

What Is Clay Barring or Clay Blocking?

Traditionally people would rub  a Clay Bar along the surface of their car.  Recently we’ve made a reusable Clay Block and Clay Lube.  You can use a Clay Block up to 100 times, and it is faster than using a Clay Bar.

Also, be sure to use a Clay Lubricant while claying, so as not to damage your vehicle’s surface.

How To Clay Block Your Car

1. Ensure that your vehicle is washed first.

2. On a dry surface spray a generous amount of the clay lube.

3. Run the clay block over the surface in one direction to catch any additional contaminants

Only use the rubber side on your vehicle's surface.

When it comes to detailing a car it’s all about the little things. That’s why today we’ll take you through the entire process of detailing the exterior of a car including 14 tips and tricks.

1. What is the best place to wash your car?

In the shade! A cool, dry place is ideal. You want the bodywork to be cool and out of direct sunlight because water evaporates faster on hot cars and that can leave watermarks.

2. What should you use to wash your car?

When most people think of washing a car they think of a traditional sponge. The problem is sponges capture and holds things like dirt and grit in their large pores. Despite your best efforts to wring it out some grit will stay embedded. It becomes like washing your car with sandpaper and can cause small scratches.

Pro detailers use a microfiber car wash mitt because that grit should fall out when you rinse. Plus personally, I’ve found it makes it easier and more fun to wash the car. You can work more elbow grease into the needed areas and get into tougher spots (like wheels or wheel wells) more easily. That's why we include a microfiber mitt with our Decon Soap.

3. Why should you use microfiber towels over other materials?

When it comes time for applying your wax or drying your car, you’ll want to use microfiber towels. Why? Similar to the sponge we talked about above other materials (like cloth rags, old t-shirts, standard towels) can have dust or dirt embedded in them. Rough materials can damage the finish.

They are also very helpful for properly buffing the wax into the car and removing it. They are great for buffing vehicle surfaces, chrome wheels, metal trim, windows and more. Safe on interior surfaces such as leather, vinyl, plastic, metal, wood and more.

4. How should you wash and care for microfiber towels?

You’ll want to take special care when washing your towels. Don’t wash them with cloth towels or you run the risk of lint from the cloth towel becoming stuck to the microfiber towel. Wash with hot water, detergent and skip the fabric softener. Fabric softener will reduce the effectiveness of the microfiber towel. Dry them on low heat too. Once dry fold them and put in them a plastic container where they are safe from contaminants.

5. How many buckets should you use?

You want to use 2 buckets. One with the soapy water and the other with water. Soap up your mitt, clean a portion of the car, then dip the dirty mitt into the water bucket so you don’t put contaminants into the soapy bucket. Essentially you are ‘rinsing’ your mitt with the water bucket in between cleanings. The standard bucket size is 5 gallons.

A grit guard at the bottom of the bucket can help remove more dirt from your mitt or sponge. The dirt will then settle at the bottom keeping your wash water clean.

6. What are contaminants?

Contaminants are things like brake dust, bird droppings, dirt and more that pollute and destroy your paint. They sit on top of your clear coat.

Common contaminants include brake dust, industrial fall out, rail dust, iron deposits, bug guts, road salt, tree sap, and bird droppings.

7. What’s the best way to remove contaminants?

First, we recommend using a Decontaminate or "Decon" Soap. This is stronger than regular car soap, as it will help strip your car of waxes and surface contaminants.

Next, you’ll want to remove bonded contaminants on the car with a liquid clay bar. You can use a traditional clay bar to remove things like sap, but a liquid clay bar is quicker and almost as effective.

8. Why can’t you use dishwashing soap instead of car soap?

Dishwashing detergents are made to be very strong because they have to break up grease and food materials. They can strip the polymer off the paint surface and accelerate the oxidation process. You’ll want to use a car soap made specifically for cars.

9. What’s the best way to prevent contaminants?

Using a hybrid wax sealant like Mirror Shine or a ceramic coating like Ceramic Spray will help your car become more hydrophobic and resistant to contaminants. Otherwise, the obvious tip is to be mindful where you park your car.

10. Why should you wax or seal your car?

It helps protect your car’s coat from UV rays that can cause fading and sun damage. It also makes your car look amazing by giving it a high gloss finish. Depending if you’re using a hybrid wax sealant will also make it more resistant to contaminants and can help resist water spots.

11. What can I use to clean polish or alloy wheels? What’s the best way to gleam up chrome wheels?

Similar to your car you’ll want to first wash and clean the wheels. If you’ve got thick containments like brake dust or other things you may want to clay block the wheels as well or use an acid based cleaner.

After cleaning you can use Mirror Shine to shine up the wheels while also protecting and sealing them.

12. What should I use on the windows?

Mirror Shine is actually safe to use on the windows. Ceramic Spray will provide a little bit stronger of a hydrophobic water repelling effect.

13. How should you dry the car?

You DO NOT want to air dry the car because that can cause soap spots to foam. You want to rinse off the car and then dry it.

14. Don’t forget the ‘inner’ exterior!

Maybe you’re just washing the exterior and not doing the interior. That’s fine but don’t forget about the inner door jams and the trunk. Open the doors and trunk to make sure to clean around them as well. Pop the hood and do the hood edge and fender folds too.  It’s that last minor detail that can really make a difference.
